Mike Gordon, bass player for the band Phish, will bring his own band to the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock for a show on March 13.
Gordon’s history with Woodstock runs deep.
He has performed multiple times at the Bearsville Theater. He attended more than one Midnight Ramble at Levon Helm Studios; and sat in with the Levon Helm Band.
Phish recorded the albums, “The Story Of the Ghost” and “Billy Breathes” at the old Bearsville Studios. And the band was known to swing by the old Tinker Street Cafe for a drink after wrapping up recording sessions for the day.
“The Story Of the Ghost” was recorded at Bearsville Studios April–June 1998 and released Oct 27, 1998. “Billy Breathes” was recorded and mixed at Bearsville Studios Feb.–June 1996 and released Oct. 15, 1996.
On June 6, 1996, Phish played a legendary show in Woodstock at the old Joyous Lake, which is now home to the restaurant Silvia. The band performed under the name “Third Ball” and the performance was unannounced until the day of the gig.
Tickets go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Friday. Visit bearsvilletheater.com for information.
