Registration and Mail Voting

The deadline to register to vote is Oct. 24. Applications must be received by that date; a postmark alone isn’t enough.

Any registered voter can request an early mail ballot without providing a reason. Online or mailed applications must reach the county board of elections by Oct. 24. Voters can apply in person through Nov. 2.

Completed mail ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 3 and received by the county board by Nov. 10. Voters can also deliver their ballots to an early voting site in their county during voting hours, or to their county board of elections or a polling place in their county by 9 p.m. on Election Day.

Voters who have already been issued a mail or absentee ballot and decide to vote in person must use an affidavit ballot. Election officials will check whether the mail ballot was received before counting the affidavit ballot.

See the state Board of Elections’ registration deadlines and mail ballot guidance.
