The Village of Tannersville is moving forward with a solar energy project that promises to cut costs and boost sustainability. Hudson Valley Wind and Solar, LLC has been secured as the engineering firm for the project, which is set to begin this spring. The $450,451 project stays within the Village’s $500,000 Downtown Revitalization Initiative allocation.

The comprehensive solar plan includes installing panels at Village Hall, the Rip Van Winkle Water Treatment Plant, the pavilion at Upper Lake Park (east side), the Boathouse, and the pavilion at 27 Lake Road, according to Deputy Mayor David Kashman. Once operational, the system will provide enough energy to power most municipal operations.

“The solar project is a tremendous win for our village. While the process took longer than anticipated—like many state-funded projects—we are now ready to move forward with a trusted contractor. By summer, we anticipate completion, significantly reducing, if not eliminating, our electricity costs from Central Hudson,” said Schneider. “This is just the beginning of several exciting infrastructure improvements, including sidewalk upgrades and enhancements to Upper Lake Park. We can all take pride in the progress we’re seeing.”

With a commitment to sustainability and fiscal responsibility, Tannersville continues investing in projects that modernize infrastructure while easing the burden on taxpayers. The solar initiative is just one example of the Village’s efforts to improve services while reducing costs.
