Rock Academy, the Saugerties-based music school known for bringing major rock performers into close contact with young musicians, will host drummer Tommy Clufetos on Saturday night for a clinic and live performance at Colony Woodstock.

Clufetos, the Detroit-born drummer whose career has included stints with Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie and Ted Nugent, is scheduled to appear at 6 p.m. March 7 for a drum demo and clinic. He will then sit in with the Rock Academy Show Band during its 7 p.m. performance. The event is open to all ages.

The appearance adds another well-known name to Rock Academy’s roster of guest artists, who have visited the school for workshops and performances with students.

Clufetos recently drew international attention as Osbourne’s drummer during the singer’s solo set at Black Sabbath’s final charity concert, “Back To The Beginning,” last summer. Last week, he reprised that performance in a tribute to Osbourne for the Brit Awards.

Jason Bowman of Rock Academy said Clufetos left a lasting impression the first time he saw him perform live.

“I saw Tommy play in 2013 at Barclays Center with Black Sabbath. He was the perfect addition to the legendary likes of Ozzy, Tony and Geezer, and the drum solo was nothing short of spectacular. There are just some drummers who are completely electric and memorable and Tommy is one of them. I’m excited for the kids to be onstage with such a powerhouse and to see what he brings to an intimate space like the Colony.”

Clufetos said he was eager for the Woodstock stop and to share the stage with the next generation of players.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing what noise can be made in Woodstock! I know it’s going to be a great night and excited to see the younger rock n roll generation kick it out!!”
