As I wandered through the streets of Saugerties, I encountered David Gelb, a retired postman. He was on his way to catch a movie with his wife.
When asked what advice he would give to his younger self, Gelb said:
“’To be awake is to be alive.’ So, spend as much time as you can awake. You know, the meaning of the word Buddha is ‘awakened one.’ That’s what I want to say—stay awake. Don’t sleep your life away.”
