Maverick Concerts has announced its 2026 season, a summer lineup that will run from June 27 through Sept. 13 at the historic Maverick Concert Hall in Hurley, with a free community open house planned for June 6 ahead of the season’s start.
This year’s festival will mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence with a strong emphasis on American composers and performers, while continuing Maverick’s mix of chamber music, jazz, world music, contemporary works, and family programming.
Among the season’s featured artists are pianists Angela Hewitt, Awadagin Pratt, and Reed Tetzloff; jazz musicians Bill Charlap, Isaiah J. Thompson, and Fred Hersch; and string quartets including the Danish, Escher, Pacifica, and Borromeo quartets. The season will also spotlight Woodstock-area artists including Cindy Cashdollar, Rachael Yamagata, and Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams.
Under the artistic direction of Alexander Platt, the season will include music by American composers such as Charles Ives, George Walker, Amy Beach, Aaron Copland, Samuel Barber, Florence Price, John Adams, Philip Glass, and Missy Mazzoli, alongside works by composers including Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Dvořák, and Ravel.
Before the season begins, Maverick will host a free, family-friendly open house on June 6 featuring music, food, history, and a chance for visitors to explore the hand-built 1916 concert hall. Built by Hervey White, the hall is known for its unusual acoustics and rustic setting in the woods outside Woodstock.Founded in 1916, Maverick Concerts describes itself as the oldest ongoing summer chamber music festival in the United States. Tickets and the full 2026 schedule are available online.
