The Overlook has welcomed two full-time reporters to its growing newsroom, expanding its coverage of communities across Greene and Ulster counties.

Connor Greco, who joined The Overlook in June, covers Hunter, Windham, and surrounding Greene County communities.

A lifelong Greene County resident, Greco graduated from Cairo-Durham High School in 2019. He began his reporting career at the University at Albany, where he studied journalism, French, and Russian. Before joining The Overlook, he spent two and a half years at the Daily Freeman in Kingston, first as a general assignment reporter and later covering the Ulster County towns of Esopus, New Paltz, and Rochester.

“Reporting back home in Greene County has been a fascinating experience,” Greco said. “I’m already learning so much I never knew about the communities I grew up just a few miles away from. I’m looking forward to learning more and bringing this essential service to these historically underserved towns.”

Isabella Schoonover joined The Overlook in August and covers Saugerties, Woodstock, Hurley, and surrounding Ulster County communities.

Schoonover recently earned her master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, where she specialized in solutions and community-based journalism. As a student, she investigated multinational corporations in Puerto Rico and reported from the Illinois State Capitol. She received the 2026 Harrington Award for Social Justice and Solutions Journalism.

Schoonover previously worked in nonprofit policy research and communications. She holds a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from North Carolina State University.

“I’m so thrilled to start my journalism career at The Overlook,” Schoonover said. “I couldn’t be joining a better team of storytellers who share my passion for local news.”
