Voters approved school budgets, propositions, and school board candidates this week in districts that include communities in The Overlook coverage area.
The votes will help shape the 2026-27 school year in the Saugerties, Hunter-Tannersville, Windham-Ashland-Jewett, and Onteora central school districts. Results remain unofficial until they are certified by each district’s board of education.
The Overlook previously reported full results from the Onteora Central School District vote. In brief, voters approved the district’s $66.5 million budget and two propositions, and elected Caroline Jerome, Aubrey O’Neal, and Faedra Dagirmanjian to the Board of Education.
Here’s a look at results from the Saugerties, Hunter-Tannersville, and Windham-Ashland-Jewett school districts.
In the Hunter-Tannersville Central School District, voters approved the proposed $16.8 million budget by an unofficial tally of 196–107.
Voters also supported a $457,549 proposition for the purchase of buses and vehicles, 205–97, and approved a $150,000 proposition for the demolition of the district’s transportation facility and a site improvement capital project, 217–85.
Board of Education member Sarah Slutzky was re-elected with 283 votes.
In the Saugerties Central School District, voters approved the proposed $83.8 million budget by a vote of 1,074–619.
Board of Education President Jeff Riozzi and incumbent Tim Wells were re-elected. Write-in candidates Andrea Viviani and Alex Rappoport were also elected to the board.
In the Windham-Ashland-Jewett Central School District, voters approved the proposed $15.9 million budget by an unofficial tally of 222–63.
Board of Education President Jean Jaeger was re-elected, defeating Todd Galloway. A vote count in that race was not immediately reported by the district.
