Onteora Central School District voters will decide Tuesday, May 19, whether to approve a roughly $66.5 million budget for the 2026-27 school year, along with a separate capital reserve proposition and school board seats.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Onteora Middle/High School, 4166 Route 28 in Boiceville. Voting will take place in the middle/high school wrestling room, according to district materials.

The district has consolidated polling places in recent years. West Hurley was eliminated as a voting location in 2019, Phoenicia in 2024, and Bennett and Woodstock in 2026. All voting will now take place at the middle/high school, according to district voter information. No identification is required to vote.

The proposed budget totals $66,481,500 and covers the fiscal year from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027. The spending plan includes $20,000 in annual support for public libraries and would authorize the district to levy the taxes needed to fund the budget.

Voters will also consider a proposition to establish a new capital reserve fund of up to $10 million over 10 years. District officials said the reserve would be funded through year-end budget savings when available and used for future building renovations, improvements and other capital needs.

The ballot will also include school board elections. Three trustee seats are open for terms running from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2029. Newcomer Aubrey O’Neal and incumbent Caroline Jerome will appear on the ballot, while Faedra Dagirmanjian is mounting a write-in campaign. Voters may also write in other candidates.

Eligible voters must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years old and residents of the district for at least 30 days before the vote. Completed early mail ballots must be received by the district clerk by 5 p.m. May 19.

A statewide revote date of June 16 has been set if the budget fails.
